PROFESSIONAL AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE  

  •  2013 – to present:  Lecturer, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Contemporary Practices Dept., Courses taught: Core Studio I and II, Research Studio Core Studio is a yearlong course that introduces students to both disciplinary and interdisciplinary  art practice. Students learn about methods, materials, tools and concepts in the areas of Surface (2D) Space (3D), and Time (4D), both independently and in relationship to one another.

  • 2013 – Summer course: Tableau Vivant from Costume design to Performance Art Performance Dept., Course Description: A rigorous exploration of the connections found between fashion, costume, performance, and production, this class will work towards a unique and prestigious opportunity to exhibit works created in the class at the Art Institute of Chicago in conjunction with the opening of: Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity, for the Benefit Gala on June 22nd 2013.  This class includes individual and group work as well as interdisciplinary workshops on such topics as performance, hat making, accessories, and a historical survey of dress and society.  Alternative methods of garment construction and body specific sculpture will be investigated as well as established methods.  Focusing on four basic elements: time, space, the performers body and costume, students will have a chance to work both disciplinary and interdisciplinary between fashion, costume and performance art.

  • 2012 -2013 Kavi Gupta Gallery - Artist Assistant  Assisted artist McArthur Binion with his studio work in preparation for his upcoming solo show in Chicago.    


  • 2012 Spring, Teaching Assistant, Performance Art Department School of the Art Institute of Chicago,  Course title: Movement and Presence: The Body as Site (with Professor Roberto Sifuentes)  The class includes both group and individual work, and introduces students to the works of collaborative live art groups and artist texts as models for collaborative creation. Many of the exercises and methodology employed in this studio class draw from an eclectic blend of original La Pocha Nostra research-based performance exercises, Relational practices, Viewpoints, Yoshi Oida, Suzuki, Boal, Grotowski, experimental dance forms, ritual practice, conflict resolution techniques and other strategies.
